Agni Y yarn for a cowl?

I am interested in knitting Annabella’s cowl that can be used both as a scarf and a hood (links below). One of the yarns specified in the pattern is no longer available so I am trying to figure out if I could use Agni Y yarn (DK, 60% superwash Merino, 20% yak, 20% silk) by itself instead.

I expect I can figure out the gauge, but I’m wondering if it would drape and wear appropriately. Would it be likely to stretch out of shape?

The original pattern called for Alchemy Silk Purse (DK 100% silk, discontinued), and Alchemy Haiku (lace weight, 60% mohair, 40% silk). The yarns are held together, I think.

In order to figure out my yarn sensitivities, I would prefer to use only one yarn and leave out the mohair. I don’t know if mohair is itchy. I expect I would need to adjust the number of stitches per row and the number of rows to do this.

I’m a beginner so any thoughts on Agni Y, or other yarns, or even other scarf/hood patterns would be most welcome! I already have two hanks of Agni Y yarn and I want a good project for it. I see there is a Knight Hood by Erika Knight, using Atlas Yarn (100% Rambouillet, light worsted) in Field Guide 20, but Annabella’s cowl fits my style and needs better. Thanks in advance!

I think the Agni Y would be an appropriate sub for this cowl - the pattern suggests using a sub with 50% silk, but the yak is also a drapey yarn - and the gauge is rather open.
I click the Yarn Ideas tab across the top of the pattern page on Ravelry for more clues when I’m considering using different yarns.

Thank you, @nellknits . I’m doing a swatch right now. It’s my first time using circular needles and so far, so good. I’m using a US 7 needle because that is the largest size suggested for Agni Y yarn. The pattern calls for a size US 9. I’ll see how I like the fabric and may try a US 8 or 9, if I think the yarn can handle it. Regardless, I’ll have some math to do to get the proper diameter. Thank you for help!
