Short row gauge

Hello! This is my first time posting but I’m in need of advice/reassurance. I just cast on the Petula sweater and have started the color work but I feel like there is a big difference between my gauge in the short row section versus knitting in the round. I can see a clear line where the change is. Is that something that blocking will fix? Should I frog it and work the short rows with a smaller needle? I’m working with Knitpicks Shine which is a cotton/modal blend, because it’s for my mom in Phoenix where wool is just not practical. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I think that going back and using the smaller needle just to purl is going to even your rows out.

Thanks! I appreciate your input. Does it work to have different sized needles on the circs for doing the short rows? Or do I need to change both needles every row? (Does that question make sense?) Thanks again, I will try it out.

I think that if you have interchangeable needles you could use 2 tips, otherwise, you can use 2 needles. it will be a little fiddly, but worth the end result.

Thanks so much for your help. I do want it to look the best I can make it, especially as a gift. I will try and remember to report back. :slightly_smiling_face:

That sounds like it’ll work pretty well. Good thinking!
