My grandmother taught me how to knit when I was 5, but I didn’t learn how to purl until I was a teenager. I crocheted tons of doll clothes that I designed myself out of red yarn as a child. During college, in Wyoming, I got hooked on knitting, thanks to a fabulous little shop in Laramie, but after moving to sweltering Phoenix, I thought “what’s the point?” After 13 years here, I’m finally acclimated, and ready for heavy sweaters again.
I’m a full time mathematics professor and part time therapeutic harpist, nearing retirement age and hoping to flip those two roles in my “golden years.” My profile pic is me, social distancing, outside of a patient window.
Oh, in addition to harp, I play flute in a few Celtic bands (hence the username, “fluti-pi.”
