Congratulations to this week’s Giftalong winner SJ1–Sara! her MacGyvered sock blockers for these, her very first, socks that are now on their way to a colleague stationed overseas. Happy knitting, everyone!
wow, I got that image!
love it
What a great Field Guide. I can’t wait to get started on the coins pillow. I’m so glad that self-gifting is appropriate.
I’m going to use 4 colors in the pillow. Should be fun to plan!
oh my GOODNESS … it’s already looking amazing.
Hope this question isn’t completely stupid, but… Will you use the entire ball when making any of these awesome designs? My knitting buddy & I just ordered the bright bundle, planning to split the yarns. Can we make a cowl or something small with 25g of 10 different yarns? I looked through the Field Guide ebook (waiting for the hard copy!), but could only find reference to needing entire balls. If I missed something, it would be par for the course! Thanks!!
I almost can’t believe how fast you are going on this! Agree re: deeply addicting. One more stripe/motif…and then you start the next one…
Down to details now. Scarf. Tube. COlORS like i have never done before. What is the best way to sew up the tube ends? Provisional cast on and graft? Dont bind off the end and graft? Is mattress possible? What is usual and customary?
I like to do a two sided cast on as for a sock toe and then graft the final end so there is no seaming. But, there’s no wrong answer here, just go for it!
Oh the coins! I might have knit almost a whole cowl yesterday. Two colors, alternate, and knit, knit, knit. There’s this thing called work today but I’m going to try and finish this puppy today. Turns out some Brown Sheep I had laying around hit gauge perfectly so I didn’t even have to mess with cast on numbers.
I’ve bought yarn twice for different color ways of an enormous, aspirational blanket that’s very popular. I get two units in and give up completely so that may be my next adventure with Kaffe. I feel like an all in one blanket could be possible and if I gave up I could bind off, steek and have a scarf or wrap knit lengthwise.
Tnx! It is a gift so want it perfect.
So gorgeous!!!
Congrats to this week’s winner Jules (julespecautdesigns here in the Lounge)! She knit this Stripey Scrappy Hat for distribution by Maine Access Immigrant Network. Happy stranding, team Kaffe! xoCristina
I’m tearing through my gift list with Team Big, but in my spare moments I’m dreaming in Kaffe. This will be Christmas vacation knitting, a coins cowl for me. So excited by the colors! This is another attempt at breaking free of my neutral color palette- if this doesn’t do it, It’s a lost cause.
I have a field guide, lovely colors for cushions, now I just need some stranded knitting courage? Do I see the Wizard for that? I have a hot pad for my mom’s kitchen a few years ago in my knitting repertoire, but that was dicey! Any great advice, tutorial, practice suggestions for a nervous knitter?
P.S. Enthralled with the fruit! And coins, of course. But that fruit!!
I have very little experience with stranded colorwork (3 Stranded Diamonds hats from F.G.8 Merry Making) but Jen Arnall-Culliford’s Techniques video helped me bunches!
Idk how to post a link, so I took a screenshot;)
Oh awesome, thank you! I’m sure I can find it. Plus, I have that book around here somewhere, too!
Ok, I tutorial-watched and jumped in . . . Now I’m concerned about my gauge . . . started a pinwheel pillow (not cushion, because alliteration) in seasonal colors as a manageable start. Should I be concerned that I’m shorter than 12” before blocking it seems?
Should I size up my needles?
Paula, I think this will do it. These colors are amazing and will !pop! against your neutral wardrobe.
