My cowl is on the needles and I am thru the ribbing and midway the first row of coins. I don’t ‘get’ the mistake ribbing so I just did regular old ribbing. Keeping it simple for my simple self.

I just reread kjt1211’s A Visit from St. Knitolas (aka The Night Before Giftalong) from a couple of years ago (+/-) and had forgotten how fun the parody of Clement Clark Moore’s poem was. Thanks kjt1211 for sharing. I don’t know how to get this on the other threads without entirely retyping or I’d share with all the Giftalongers. Happy Merry Christmas New Year Hanukkah to all. Have safe fun holidays.

Finished - a square coins pillow (16x16) and an ombre stripe (12x18). I backed them with gray flannel, because the blanket they matched is backed in the same fabric (hoarding leftovers for the win). Unfortunately I didn’t get any decent daylight shots, because there’s been no decent daylight. Now they’re under a tree across the country. I think I might want my own now. Maybe knit with one size smaller needle, but that’s another story.

My gift to myself. I am doing a wall hanging based off the blanket. I used a random dice roller app to determine sequences and patterns. Because I am done with holiday knitting I get to cast on today!

This Coins Cushion is a reward to myself for hosting overnight company for four weeks straight. Such a fun knit.

Finally jumped off the hampster wheel of life to take a few pics of my cowl to share. I’ve started another one and hope to make good progress while (finally) watching Downton Abbey on iTunes!

finished the cowls for the ladies - used a different stash yarn - Morehouse 3 ply that I had blanket sets for. Still fun to play with the colors!

So many projects, so many ideas…yikes! I so want to try the coins and just want to get started and see where it goes but I don’t know how many skeins to buy. Any suggestions for a random start to maybe it will be a scarf but then a throw sounds nice or maybe I can keep going and make a blanket of some kind…help please.

Just got my yarn on Saturday. Have been drooling over the Coins scarf since buying the Field Guide so the timing is perfect for me. Didn’t have time for the Giftalong but that’s okay because I can’t imagine giving away anything Kaffe.

COINS SCARF!!! But I am using Knit Picks Palette, as I have so much of it in the stash! Can’t wait to see everyone’s brilliant mash up of color!

I recommend starting with 10 skeins, all different colors—they go a long way. I got my Coins scarf done and used approximately half of the yardage, leaving me pillow fixings and bits to mix in with new skeins. 10 is a reasonable number to be able to pick out without being overwhelmed. Kaffe’s mixes are a good cheat if you want to just borrow his amazing color sense. They are all listed in the Field Guide.

I love that you threw in some Persian Poppies! I hope the ladies appreciated!

I got a little head start on the knitalong; am making a cushion cover with pinwheels on one side and wee stripes on the other side. I want to try all of the motifs!

Any idea how many extra balls of which color we’d need? I jumped in and expanded mine like Ann’s and can see after the first fruit chart I’m going to need extra yarn!!!
