Giftalong 2019: TEAM KAFFE

Almost done, one more night of hearings should do it. I’ll post the

finished pillow.
I’m now I’m thinking how can I work a Kaffe motif into the Main Squeeze #bangoutasweater.

Fabulous! I am envisioning a circle of coins at wrists… maybe bottom, too. Ready to bang out a February sweater

That was what I was thinking or a border at the bottom. I think the big bulky yarn will be overwhelming on me (5’) so I an looking at the Tin Can Knits Harvest pattern in Lambs Pride.

The (flat) repeat is times 8 plus 1, so I would go down to 81 for the coins side, add selvedge stitches and do 81 for the back to keep it all even.

Jan!! I love your colors! I’ve made some progress on mine and will post pictures tomorrow. I’m currently leaning toward making not a cowl, but a box. Crazy, right?

Looking good! Aren’t all of these colors and pattern options fun??

This “Chocolate Box Vest” is just too addictive (and probably a bit out of control). I’m certainly embracing the creative adventure. Stripes, Diamonds, Coins, Rings, Peeries, Checkerboards, and 9 colors. Oh, my!

Now it’s time to divide front and back. New learning on the horizon - knitting stranded flat for the first time all while continuing to sample colors and motifs from Master Class. I’m having too much fun!

My boxes, inside and out.

I just pulled out about 8 inches of work. I read Kay’s letter about not tacking long floats when the inside is not exposed. Because this is a tube scarf I said yippee, I can go faster if I don’t need to catch my floats. But I must have pulled the yarn too tightly or something because my work got lumpy. I need to figure out how to to do it wrong side out — like your photo. Ann suggested it with the Christmas stocking.

Jan! It’s so easy, you just push your knitting inside out like my photos, and knit with the needle loop to the front rather than to the back.

All of the stranding then has to go around the outside edge. I also use the largest circumference needle possible to avoid gathers.

If this doesn’t make sense I can try to get an action photo in the morning light.

Got it. Thanks so much for the help. Took me a second to figure it out, but you are right —easy.

I’m so enjoying my Garter Stripe Shawl/Blanket. I expect it to provide me with plenty of knitting fun for several more months seeing as I’m only 30% of the way in and January is coming to a close. I’m looking forward to more stripy fun with the leftovers as well. (And I may have ordered a few extra balls of Felted Tweed to play with…)

Glad to be a part of your forum. I want to post a photo of my Kaffe Fassett project. It began as a scarf, but it was too wide for my liking, so I made it into a hat! My husband LOVES it! I love the black and white sections interspersed with colorful ones. I may take on the scarf in the future.

Looking great! Your coins really showcase the colors!

Very inspirational! Your lovely project makes me want to buy a skein of each of the 43 colors and make a “shade card” stripes shawl.

My “Box of Chocolates” vest is finished! I very much enjoyed dipping in and out of the Rowan Felted Tweed and Field Guide #13 box of chocolates. This project was a blessing as it really helped me to “let go” and to embrace an opportunity to play with my knitting and perceptions of creativity.
