Plotulopi reconnect

So, in the February 16 article on MDK, writing about Plutolopi, Ann says that if the yarn breaks, it can “be reconnected simply by rubbing the ends together.” My question is - are we talking about a dry rub, or a spit splice, or some place in between, like a kiss from the misting bottle. I’ve swatched, and I tried to reconnect a break, but it didn’t seem to be quite right OR I didn’t know what I was doing.

Or both, frankly.

Any insights? I’m about to cast on the Reindeer Moss Mitts (just as soon as I finish the trunk of the sweater I’ve got on the needles. The sleeves can wait…)

I do a spit splice, but don’t rub too vigorously. You need to be careful knitting the join; it will hold together once knitted.
