Yarn twists onto itself

Hi! My Yarn twists onto itself from the cake to the needles. How can I avoid this? I use a ball winder, winding it twice so not stretched, and pull yarn from the center of the cake. Thanks for any help!

I wind my cake on the ball winder from the skein. And then I rewind from the outside. It serves a dual purpose. If takes the winding tension off the yarn when you do it twice and when you rewind from the outside you sort of reset the twist.

I agree with this double-wind technique!

Wow. I do wind mine twice but from the center not the outside. Makes good sense to do the second one from the outside. I’ll try it! Thank you!!
