Agni Y blocking?

Does anyone know how Agni Y yarn (DK, 60% superwash Merino, 20% yak, 20% silk) acts when blocked? Does it grow or shrink and by roughly how much? Kay says it is hand-washable in cool water, air dry.

I made a rookie error in making my swatch so wide that I’ll be a good way into my cowl and available yarn before it is long enough to use as a swatch. I’m far enough in that I’m reluctant to abandon it and the gauge isn’t terribly critical for this project but I do need it to be able to fit over my head. This is my first project on circular needles.

I haven’t used the Agni Y yarn but my experience with superwash is that it tends to grow.

Superwash does have some growth to it–especially while it is wet. In this case, I would give it a soak in a no-rinse wool wash and then a good spin in my salad spinner (or for a larger item in the washing machine if you have one that you can control the settings on) to “get the wet out.” I find that the spinning gets a lot of water out quickly.

If it were 100% superwash wool, I would follow up with about five minutes on the low setting in the dryer but I’m afraid that the yak would not take kindly to then.

Once you have it damp (as opposed to full on wet), use a ruler or tape measure to pat it out to size and dry it flat.
