Knight Hood by Erika Knight

I’ll be talking to the intended recipient as well to get her sense of what fit she wants, but with my needles I can get either 17.5 stitches per 4 inches or just under 19 stitches per 4 inches (in both cases my row gauge is slightly tighter than recommended, but length is easier to adjust for). Any thoughts on whether the Knight Hood would be better slightly looser or slightly tighter than designed as a general thing? I think they’re both close enough that I’d rather let its size be adjusted slightly rather than changing my stitch counts. My initial instinct is that the slightly tighter design would be the move, and should still be plenty big to get over the head easily, but if more experienced knitters have wisdom from their knight hoods, I’d appreciate it!

I would go with the firmer gauge as it will make a warmer fabric.
You can knit the edging a little deeper if you feel it needs embiggening.

Thank you! That’s what I was thinking, and the recipient also agreed.
