Still waiting for my yarn that’s scheduled to arrive tomorrow per USPS, but already learned some very important things from today’s class with Lorilee that will help me “bang this out” in a month. Like, after measuring things that actually fit me I will be casting on 8 fewer stitches and knitting fewer rows than would be the case if I picked the size I always think I am! Revelation!

Does anyone know how much ease is recommended for the sweater?

I’m taking the class and yes, she uses the larger needle for gauge check.

I’m taking the class and haven’t figured why two needles as of yet myself. Good question!

They give no ease information but in the class today they suggested measuring your best fitting sweater from armpit to armpit and use that measurement according to measurements on page 9.

I’m knitting Crowberry in the colors from the pattern. Almost finished the short rows and I love the yarns!

that’s also my question about the 2 needle thing…I am also confused about that one…

And to @kjt1211 may be a typo, I just read the pattern, possibly also to store some of the knit while moving to another place but I see nothing that wouldn’t work with 1 needle and waste yarn or cords, but I also made quick work of it.

I’m having some trouble getting gauge for my Crowberry sweater. I’m getting 14.5 stitches with US 10s and 15.5 stitches with US9s. I’m between sizes 38-40 and size 42-44, so I’m thinking of using the US 9s with the bigger (42-44) size. Does that sound reasonable?

I also had a little trouble getting gauge. 15 stitches on 10.5s wound up being 3.5 inches for me. I don’t want to go to a bigger needle because it’s already pretty loose fabric. So I did some math and think I should be OK just knitting the next size up.

Dinah, My preferred fit is smack in the middle of 2 sizes. I cast on for the larger size tonight. My gauge is 14.75/4 inches. I did the math and it should be ok. I hate a too tight sweater. Worst case scenario, I frog and reknit it or give it away.

I started a little early and am at the back where I have to add extra rows. I’m knitting the sweater as pictured—my favorite colors are orange and green. I am not sure how to incorporate the berries though. Do I carry the third color along with the other two in those rows, or just use short pieces of the black and weave in the ends at each berry (if that makes sense)?

I already knitted a tam to get a feel for the plotulopi, since I’ve never knitted with it before. It knits up very quickly.

Thank you both for responding to my question  Funny, I also eventually found the answer in the pattern, but my eyes just didn’t want to see it at the time. Off to a good start now.

Here we go again! Having banged out three MJMucklestones in Lettlopi, I have a “scrap bag” so I’m knitting a subtly striped vest as these two colors are about the same value. Yoke will be two lighter colors: the light blue and white. I love seeing the little bits of color talking to each other across my wardrobe!

I got gauge using 10.5 needles (knitting flat). But the fabric looked too lacey. So I’m trying size 10 needles on circular, using that funny-looking way of draping across the back. I’m not finished, but the stitches on the ends right now are curving around toward the back and I wonder if that tension will affect the overall stitch count, even when pinned out. I did make three extra stitches on the sides. Maybe that will help. Has anyone else found the fabric to look overly open?

I’m using Lettlopi for the Crowberry sweater. The third color will be yellow and charcoal berries. The class is very well done. Today was fun. I’m already planning a second one using the Plotulope and Love Story.

Going to swatch today! Pulutulopi stashed after Iceland trip if 2011 and one plying a three ply wool (not really spun) that I deconstructed last weekend.

Hoping for corrections or enlightenment on the two needle situation. Glad to see the German short rows worked for people. Read where they said not to wrap the plutopi tightly and then the short row instructions have you wrapping it tightly.

My fifth bang out. Doing the Crowberry vest.

@tanneicasey - I was thinking of sorbets!

I found that having an extra set of needles was helpful when working the back stitches only, and then when making the provisional cast-ons for the sleeves.
You’re right though, that isn’t written into the pattern…
