I loved knitting Old Friend using Atlas and decided to knit an Erica Knight cardi for my hubby. Size XL, so happy it is with bulky yarn! But I just cannot for the life of me understand even these first few rows of instructions. Help, please? It goes:
Row 1: (RS) P3 (1, 2, 3, 1, k1, [p2,k1] to last 3 (1, 2, 3, 1, p3 (1, 2, 3, 1).
Row 2: K3 (1, 2, 3, 1), p1, [k2, p1 to last 3 (1, 2, 3, 1), k3 (1, 2, 3, 1).
Huh?! I am knitting – if I can even get started! – the largest size.

PS – I had such a hard time getting gauge even with the bulky yarn and really big needles. So I added a strand of fingerling alpaca in black that I had in my stash to the deep teal-cobalt blue and it looks pretty interesting in my swatch.
