Socks and Blocks Knitalong 2020

I posted a similar question, in that the Denim skeins are 90 m and the Hand Knit Cotton skeins are 85 m. The pattern calls for skeins of Denim. So I’m wondering how much meterage per block, which would answer your question as well.

Thanks so much for the info. I’m going to go for it. I need a new challenge. Plus I can order the EASE Field Guide and justify the $10 shipping.

My calculations are that you may need 1 more of each the MC and the CC.
Welcome to the party!

Knitting is slow right now, but I’m loving these bright colors.

Julia, the very first time I went skiing I was wearing a new pair of jeans. I was young and had no gear but I really wanted to try. After accidentally hurling myself down the hill on my first try (long story) I had no fear of anything. As you can imagine, I fell a lot. A LOT! And every time I fell, I left an epic blue streak in the snow from my now soaked, brand new jeans. My friends were using the big blue swooshes to track me on the mountain!

Thanks! I’ll take a look.

Hi!! Are you looking at Rowan handknit cotton? The yardage is 93yds. I ordered two skeins more in the main colors because I plan to sew the blocks together with those same colors.

Hi Ann,

Thank you for instigating another knit along - it has inspired me to get back into my sock knitting, so have just finished two pairs using some variegated yarn I had (faded helical stripes - 1MC & 5CC & faded using 6CC). The third pair is on the needles (a mix of faded and helical stripes using 3CC0) and almost finished :-).
I have found two other pairs to either finish (the baby ones), or re-frog and restart (pink ones). So enjoying this! Will probably overdue the remaining variegated yarn for at least another 2 pairs - watch this space

Yes, the Hand Knit Cotton. I was comparing meters (not yards) as that is how it is done in the pattern in the field guide. I’m really wanting to work out the meterage for a single block. Just not sure how to do that without a scale

Dear Ann,
Thank you for instigating another Knitalong. I have a question: when is Labour Day? Ours is end of October (NZ).

Hi Patricia,
In the US, Labor Day is the first weekend of September - but that date is not a hard and fast end to our often lingering KALs.

Thank you for that - I may run out of steam before end of October!!! So early September sounds more do-able…! So I’ll go cast on another pair :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi I am having a hard time starting second strip B. I have been ff the video and it seems like the written instructions in the pattern are different.

Finishing these for my mom first. One down. Speaking of gauge, I now assume my go to needles and sock yarn will be the expected gauge. But a slightly fatter yarn with a slightly larger needle made these big. Not too big for my mom, I hope. She played the age card and told me she could not measure her foot.

Hi Ipy, I see you have seed stitch on the sole of a couple of those. Does that have a purpose? Such as making them more grippy?
