Yes. With two caveats. 1. Make sure you use the a worsted that is wool or a natural fiber wool blend (no acrylics). 2. Make sure you use the Lamb’s Pride for the border so that they are all consistent.
This was a great question by the way. As we all know, Lamb’s Pride has a texture all it’s own and I’ve been perhaps a little rigid about that. As long as the borders are the same, I think it will all come together beautifully.
Would love to knit a square for one of your blankets! if you could use another, I will need the pattern. Thank you for your time and energy to put this together, and thanks to Ann for the great idea!
I’m back! I had lunch with a friend today which just added to making this the most perfect day ever. My friend works for Eileen Fisher whose offices are literally steps from the Hudson River. We ate outside at the restaurant next door–crab cakes, frittes and rose! I am feeling very French right now. Amy (my friend) is also a knitter and may join us.
I left my phone at home this morning which at first made me ridiculously anxious (I’m trying to respond to everything here quickly) but then it made me do this.
It was a spectacular afternoon to have a good visit with an old friend.
I did stop in their lab store but I didn’t buy a thing. Hard to believe but true. They sell their mill ends on cones and they have an amazing clothing recycling program. More about that another time when I can go back and take pictures (no phone, no pics).
I’m off to check my email and then I’ll be back to follow up on all the posts here.
P.S. That Freedom pic is also the same thing I do when I take my bra off at the end of the day!
Today has been spectacular but it’s time for me to shut down the computer and knit a bit. I’m pretty sure I got back to everyone but if I missed anyone please accept my mea culpa and send me a note.
You are all spectacular!
This is my gift to you. I’ve been singing this all day. It’s a favorite of mine. All different yet all singing the same song. Click here.
My wool has arrived! I’m so excited to get started. I’m calling this colour combo “Berries in my porridge” (or oatmeal as you folks might say).
Karen, thank you for the happy cry today. I was seriously overtired at work today (waking up all night conviced my alarm was going off, party of one) and your amazing story with the prom dress was just what I needed.
I love that brownish color on the bottom right, which one is it? That looks like it would be a great background color for mine! My mind boggles picking between colorways online with those tiny pictures!
You and your team members have just made my Saturday morning. Please allow me to join. I need to buy the yarn, so if you have a recommendation for colors based upon somewhat you know others are using feel free to suggest some. Since I will have two full skeins, I will try to finish more than one square. I will email you for the pattern.
Thanks so much for all of your hard work. I am really looking forward to this.
Today, we’re going rogue and changing up the rules! Go ahead and use whatever worsted weight yarn you want to use. I’m still sticking with the Brown Sheep because it is a favorite of mine but go ahead and use something that’s a favorite of yours. As long as it wool or wool blended with another natural fiber, have at it!
Please still stick with the 4.5 stitches to the inch gauge. I may be feeling a little punk rock about this right now but more Joey Ramone punk rock than Sid Vicious punk rock. We’re not going that crazy!
