Going with the Picket Fence Blanket!! The process is MAGIC!! This will be for my son and DIL’s new house! Using stash and destashed yarn: discontinued Knit Picks Main Line, 75 Pima Cotton, 25 Merino.

I started my Picket Fence a few weeks ago…what fun that I can share the process with you all now. Love the color change technique…just enough mental effort to keep block from getting boring. IMG_1406

I actually have a long-languishing Mitered Cross Blanket that I need to dig out. I think I have 17 of the 24 that I think I need done. This is a perfect “mindless knitting” project! Thanks for reminding me!

Hi Pollyanna, and welcome!
Be sure to use a long enough, flexible cable, I recommend starting with a 32 or 40 inch.

Those are just beautiful. I’m in love with the yarn!

I’m doing both the socks and the blocks! But I did pregame both of them I’m three quarters of the way through a sock in Socks That Rock retired color Supreme Black Dalek and halfway through a block using some of my precious stash of Rowan Denim. But I’m going to need to take precautions to keep my white denim slipcovers from turning blue!

This is my first Knitalong. And my first attempt at making an afghan. I’d been fretting about gauges and weights. I didn’t have enough skeins in my stash, so I ordered more yarn.

I found Ann’s post, “Why Join a Knitalong?” (very sorry, it disappeared) to be an inspiring read. It helped me to stop fretting and has given me a much-needed shot of confidence!

I’m in! This is my first MDK KAL, first time in the Lounge, and I’d like to FO a couple of sock UFOs if that’s ok.

After learning to knit socks on DPNs (and swearing, as God is my witness, I’ll NEVER fiddle with those tiny toothpicks again!), I became a happy TAAT on two circs, top down sock knitter. My main issue is no longer the Single Sock Syndrome…yay! It’s now a personal mission to find “plain” patterns without “fluffy stuff” on the top of the foot/instep. (Mile-High instep=shoe too tight when inserting fancypants sock ).

I’ll post a pic of the UFOs after a search through some wayward project bags…

I’ve changed my plan and decided to do a log cabin blanket instead of PF. In a recent craft room cleanout I discovered an entire big box of Elle “True Blue” denim yarn (got it back in the day from the now-defunct Elann online yarn store) - 40 balls at least, maybe more! So I’ve started log cabin-ing with this denim yarn and hope to, eventually, end up with a me-sized blanket. Onward!

Thanks for letting me join this kintalong. I’m planning on making a pair of socks … have my new yarn and Field Guide … a bit overwhelmed by the skinny yarn and skinny needles and self-directed project. I’m sure I’ll be posting for help!

Thanks, It’s very fun to knit with. It’s the type of sock yarn that comes in 2 skeins exactly the same to make 2 matching things as long as you start with the same color. Sometime I want to try it for sleeves, maybe for one of my granddaughters, would be so cute.

I got the same error message, “Page not found”

I’m thinking of a small Picket Fence. 9 blocks. My estimate of yarn needed is 5 skeins of Main Color and 5 of Contrast. Would like others opinion before ordering. Of course, both my choices are out of stock right now, but I’ll be ready to jump when they’re back, if I get my kittens in a row now. Thanks all and virtual hugs.

I know this is not part of the Knitalong but I’d really like to to knit the Shakerag Top. I’m a beginner knitter and have never knitted a garment. Hats, scarf, and socks yes. I love how cotton knits so I want to order the summer lite 4ply. Can you tell me if this is something I can knit and be successful? I always have several projects going on so socks, picket fence blocks and shakerag top maybe the ticket…Thoughts?
